This weekend is the last chance to visit the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists Holiday Craft Sale and Art Exhibit at Gallery 1070 in Chicago’s historic Edgewater neighborhood. Enjoy the show, see my oil painting of a Florence sunset from the Ponte Vecchio, and buy some unique art work and crafts.  Enjoy wine and cheese while browsing in this charming gallery.

Then take a spin to the north shore for the next best place to pick up unique holiday gifts: The North Shore Art League’s “inchworks” show at  the Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Ave., 2nd floor gallery, Winnetka, IL 60093.  The exhibit opens Thursday, November 15th and runs through January 14, 2019.  See http://www.northshoreartleague.org/ for gallery hours and details.

I have two plein air watercolor paintings in the “inchworks” show.

The Sandia Mountains from the Bosque

Watercolor on Arches Paper

Mary’s View of Coulagh Bay

The first is from a painting trip to Corrales, New Mexico; it’s a small watercolor painted along the banks of Rio Grande titled “The Sandia Mountains from the Bosque.”

The second is from a painting trip to Ireland’s Beara Peninsula and the town of Eyeries last year.  Our group met a remarkable older woman spiritualist, Mary Maddison, who let us wander her property along Coulagh Bay.   This watercolor is titled “Mary’s View of Coulagh Bay.”
